mel brooks .... no .... no! mel gibson! mel gibson! mel gibson's done another picture that features violence, revenge, pursuit, torture, and .... subtitles .... so that the masses can understand an historical and incomprehensible language ..... i'm sure that mel has a very interesting locked closet in his house, where he likes to spend a lot of time when he's not cruising the strip, schnockered and festooned with blonde bimbos (oh, he's a family values man!) but no, i don't want to know what's in it; i'm just going to--out of the goodness of my heart, and for free--suggest what his next film could be about: it opens up, with a pov of the oval office in the white house; off camera voices are, in a language not understood, saying: "don't invade iraq! don't invade iraq!," while the subtitles read: "don't invade iraq! we'll be sorry! we'll be sorry!"
one reviewer commented that warfare, using knives and sticks and clubs, was bloody ..... gee, i never knew that; i'm sure glad we've sanitized things and use white phosophorus and cluster bombs and rocket propelled grenades and illegal rounds from our ar's, all of which shred bodies but .... leave no blood .....
however, i digress ..... the next two-and-a-half hours of the picture feature house-to-house fighting, chases, lots of fast cuts; torture including acid/brain injections, trepanning with power tools, lots of rape, and the pursuit and slaughter of a brutal alien invading force ......
the subtitles go, "see, asshole ..... we fucking told you ..... we told you but you wouldn't listen ..... and you're still not listening ...... and only the dickheads who got it all wrong still get paid to talk about it ......"
i sense that some of you aren't quite with me on this, but then ...... maybe you're not as big on torture as mel is ..... he's a christian, you know ......
okay ........ now can i talk about music?
good ..........
BLACK KANGAROO will be re-released by wounded bird records in a timeframe as yet to be specified ...... i'd thought it would come out in the beginning of the new year, but you know me: i have a real hard time with the english language, and need subtitles to understand what i believe i'm being told ...... i've sent them my masters, including the bonus tracks that are part of the download package, and they will do the cover art .... this means a couple of things: one is, you will pay a little less to wounded bird records for a cd that will have cover art with it, while two is, i will make absolutely no money at all .......
rod liddle, music editor for the sunday times (london) magazine, wrote in august that Black Kangaroo is one of the albums you should have been listening to in the 1970s ...... i think that Going Home is one of the albums you should be listening to now; i won't be around in thirty years and it won't mean fuck all to me when it gets discovered and the subtitles go, wow! this was really great! wonder what happened to him?
he fucking died, you morons; why didn't you buy it when it would have done him some fucking good?
so ..... for now until whenever, anyone who orders a download of black kangaroo will get a free copy of Going Home, and i'll pay the shipping ..... except for international ...... orders will also get bonus tracks of whatever i feel like burning off at the time; i think i've done a lot of good music and i think you should hear it ..... there's more to me than just saying "george bush sucks satan's cock," even though we know it to be the truth .......
and you don't need subtitles ......
now ....... let me introduce THE ARCHIVES:
music historian lisa rios has supervised the compilation of select peter kaukonen music from 1976 to 2006: yes, folks! that's thirty years of anonymity! she has painstakingly collected eighteen cuts that range from a kangaroo live slow blues (1976) to extraordinary fingerpicking to music done in this last year observing the birth of my twin sons ...... when was it ever easy to categorize what i do musically? The Archives showcase stellar performances by lee parvin, piano; marcia miget, soprano sax; michael lindner on bass; and through it all, my guitar playing ........
lisa's done the artwork, and it's a spectacular package ...... oh, this one covers all the bases, and it's a very limited edition, each one numbered and signed ..... i'm sorry to say that the orders page of my site has crashed, thanks to corporate interference, and i don't know when it will be rebuilt, or when i can feature The Archives on its own page ....... but you can inquire by writing to me directly ......... The Achives are $30.00, plus $3.00 for postage and handling, and each order will be accompanied with a Going Home ..........
