it seems like the stomach flu, which laid me out for a week, was a cosmic metaphor for the electoral process in this mid-term election: america got rid of its vile shits in a resounding fashion ..... i lost seven pounds in five days and am still weaker than i'd like to be, but maybe this metaphor won't hold for america and, with the expulsion of so many noxious turds, maybe we'll emerge stronger and healthier and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, while extending universal health care to its citizens .....
but i'm a dreamer, and spend much of my waking time, when not changing diapers, wandering through sunlit fields of daisies and cornflowers, making garlands and nosegays while small woodland creatures caper and cavort at my feet, the sun dappling their sleek fur .....
speaking of fantasies, i have a few and don't you forget it .... on the one hand i hear king george talking about "bah-partisun," but we haven't seen any meaningful bipartisan outreach from republicans--ever--and i know it's not going to start now .... i say that in spite of the breathy media articles that proclaim his "flexibility" and "willingness to change" and "responsiveness ...." this is patent horseshit; he's a spoiled, vindictive, petulant brat .... i know it, you know it, and perhaps the electorate will keep this in mind for the next couple of years ....
i've also heard nancy pelosi and other hard chargin' democrats say that "impeachment is not on the table ....." well, my fantasy is, of course, an immediate launch of impeachment proceedings against king george, along with charges of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and war profiteering brought against both him and cheney and the rest .... but i'll settle for a snowstorm of subpoenas, now that rangel and conyers have the upper hand in committees and, like we saw with nixon way back when, when the evidence comes in and you follow it to its logical end then ..... perhaps then .... just perhaps ....
they say that there's too much to do and they can't sunder the nation with such proceedings, but such niceties never concerned republicans, who have always, like hounds of hell baying at the moon, shrieked for "the rule of law ...." we can weigh the relative values of cum on a blue dress or 2,874 american dead and billions down a rathole and talk about the rule of law, and we can think about how america would emerge, lighter and more vibrant; cleaner and healthier; renewed and invigorated, with the purging of those toxic shits who are still in office, and who are responsible for .....
i'm sure you have your own list .....
i can't help myself, and i'll apologize in advance: the excremental vision seems so apt for the american body politic that, with your indulgence, i'd like to pursue it a little bit more, and then ... then .... perhaps we can move on to more sanguine topics, like the denouement of the invasion and occupation of iraq ......
no .... shit .... i'm just kidding ..... i was thinking more in terms of thanksgiving and turkeys and stuffing and homemade cranberry sauce and gearing up for the holiday shopping season, with lights twinkling on a tree and peace on earth ......
but i digress .......
the thing about a massive purging is, you can clean out a lot of the shits, but you still have assholes ..... like "turncoat joe" liebermann; joe, we know you're republican lite and, when you recant and bounce over to the dark side, it'll create a tie in the senate that will be broken by the king of darkness himself, dick cheney ..... i'm also thinking about the nameless republicans who continue to mouth the party line that "we have to win the war over there so al kayda doesn't take over iraq and attack us over here ......"
spurious logic and irrational statements have always been the fundament of political discourse ..... we all know, of course, that al wasn't in iraq until we extended him a courteous invitation, kind of like putting agar-agar in a petri dish and leaving it uncovered in the bubonic plague ward .... as for "winning wars," our track record hasn't been too good of late unless, of course, you count our liberation of the university coeds in granada ..... and "winning a war" with an implacable enemy who has no home base, by military means, is .... mmmm ..... difficult at best .....
i wonder if america, never known for subtlety, will effect a shift towards diplomacy .....
well ....
don't let my dower ruminations flatten the tires of your exultant parade ..... the long and the short of it is, the tide did turn ..... the waves splashed up, crested, broke, and--as they pulled back--they carried limbaugh and allen and rove and rumsfeld and their froth and spume were the repudiation of an imperium and its policies and .... and ......
i think i've forgotten how to talk about music .....
cheers!

Again well said and you've said it all! .........speaking of turds....In a certain sense the Italians have turned them into art.....being the wonderful artists that they are known to be. I saw a photo where a museum in Northern Italy put a work of "performance" art by an artist on display of a toilet with toilet paper in it and every time it gets flushed the Italian National Anthem starts to play. Now in the name of art..............here in the States the Anthem could be substituted with the Star Spangled Banner.
Do you think Dr. Pete that art can be called "terrorism" with all these new laws that just got passed?
As always a true patron of the arts......
