Summer Daze

he heat wave broke a week ago, but it still smells like the foyer to the inferno, thanks to the more than eight hundred fires that started in a lightning storm .... a lightning storm? in california? i think of lightning as an east coast or midwest phenomenon, along with humidity and lightning bugs .... i didn't register the lightning storm, but something hit a tree down the street from me, setting it on fire, and i don't think it was osama yo mama ..... he's kicking back, with his dialysis machine, in the hyderabad hilton, driving room service crazy .....

fire and drought, fire and drought; tornadoes; typhoons; oh ... i almost forgot floods in the midwest .... let's see: we had hundred year floods ten years ago, and now we're having five hundred year floods .... our fearless leader-type guy actually kind of went and looked at some of the water and spoke to some of the folks i know he said y'all don't like to see yore house goin' down the river but sometimes ya gotta play the hand that's dealt ya and it's not the hand it's how you play it and i wonder someone who had that hand dealt to them just didn't give him the finger from that hand and isn't it odd, what with all these meteorological and hydrological occurences that are just off the fucking charts, coming down one after the other after the other, that not one single "news service" or "newspaper" or "media" while reporting on any of this makes any mention of global warming or climate change?

i'm sure their intentions are good ....

ha ha .... ha ha .....

meanwhile we get to talk about "opening up our oil reserves" and "drilling on the coast" because i don't know about you but gas in my neighborhood is tickling the butt of five bucks a gallon and what better way to fill the tank of my hummer that's what i drive don't you? than buy dipping a carabou in oil sludge or torching up a seabird or two i can just melt down a seal and stuff him in the tank christ what a fucking boondoggle offshore drilling is or drilling in alaska one of the greatest reserves of natural gas is in washington d.c. with all the senators and congresspersons and lobbyists they just keep going and going and going and i hope no one strikes a match WHOOOOOMPPPHHHHHHH it'd make the hindenburg look like a child's birthday candle .....

the peter kaukonen trio (two really nice guys and peter) played their shows last weekend; i'm told that video clips'll be up on the myspace page; i'm told that friday was a pretty nice show and i wish i'd been there .... ha ha .... no .... what i actually wish is that anyone had been there; if everyone came who said they were going to come, do you think i'd be sitting here, writing this nonsense? no ... i'd be driving my brand new metallic pink ferrari up and down highway one, not blinking at the cost of filling its insatiable tank .....

whatever .... i'm taking the family out on vacation, mercifully unhooked from the digital umbilical, away from computers and news and most things electronic ..... i'll be back in a couple of weeks; i'd suggest that you stop reading the news, jab an icepick through your left eyeball into your frontal lobes; stir vigorously; sit back and enjoy the new sense of well-being that permeates you .... now you can really appreciate the democrats sucking up the FISA feces and your government, along with its telecom and corporate henchmen, monitoring your every movement .....

it'll be nice to get away but god ..... how i hate travelling in this @!$%@#%^@#%^ country ....... i'm sure you'll hear me shrieking as i start going through "security ....."

ha ha .... security ..... oh .... ha ha ..... that's really funny!
