robert m. gates, sometimes referred to as "george's gerbil," tell us that our european allies, the ones that didn't approve of our unilateral, illegal invasion of iraq, the ones who support their troops by not sending them off to be exxon mobil's private army, "confuse iraq and afghanistan because they opposed the "war" in iraq ...." gee, how could you confuse them? we haven't been able to find osama bin laden in either place, and we seem to be .... mmmm ....

i've got a couple of good reasons why i've not been writing .... one is that it's hard for me to keep up with the level of distaste i feel when i read about our lunar electoral landscape: it's heavily populated, but there is no intelligent life to be seen ..... i'd be more invested in the process if i felt that i had a choice .... oh, i guess i do: it's kind of like making the choice between injecting radioactive waste into your left eyeball or amputating your left hand with a dull butter knife .... how do you want to be fucked up in the future? a little of this?

there's something about christmas that brings .....

plumbing crises .....

years ago i was preparing the usual big christmas dinner for my mother and others, and the kitchen sink got blocked; nothing would go down, not a thing, which left, well .... stuff ..... lots and lots of stuff, leering and winking and progressively stinking .... you don't even try to get repair people in on christmas; you just work with what you've got .... i don't remember what we did or didn't do with the sink, but whatever it was, we survived ....

many thanks to all who have written, offering their condolences ..... it's gracious and thoughtful and kind of you, plus .... it's seasonally and taxonomically appropriate: i've written in the past how animals understand death and honor the departed; i'd say that we are less separated from the animal kingdom than we'd like to think, and that's not such a bad thing ....
